It is in "The Clue of the Whistling Bagpipes" that we learn of Nancy's maternal heritage. In this book, Nancy travels to Scotland to meet her great-grandmother, Lady Douglas. Lady Douglas is the widow of a former member of the House of Lords, in one of Scotland's first families. It is also mentioned that Nancy's great-great-grandmother is a Cameron.

In the original volume of "The Hidden Window Mystery", we learn that Nancy' grandmother's name is Mrs. Austin. Meaning, that Mrs. Drew's maiden name was Miss Austin. These two books provide enough information to chart five generation's of Nancy's Scottish heritage.
