The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien
Why is it so hard for me to finish this book? This is my second time through and I still can't finish it! It's not that is isn't a good book, because it is. I just miss the Fellowship. I miss Sam and Frodo and Merry and Pippin and all the others. I mean who needs thriteen dwarves to have a grand adventure. I just need one and his name is Gimli, son of Gloin. Don't get me wrong, I love Bilbo, but his tale just doesn't hold me the way that Frodo's did. When reading Lord of the Rings, I couldn't not wait to see what would happen to the Hobbits next. It is fun to watch Bilbo grow from a timid, frightened hobbit to a clever, expierenced burgler, but it's just not the same.
My only conclusion is that I should have read The Hobbit before I read the Lord of the Rings. Of course, then I would probably be complaining about how mush I missed Thorin, Balin, Kili and Fili. Well... maybe not.
